No lots are published yet. Ground is being taken on now, and a lot appears here only once its paperwork has been checked — so the first entries will be a short list rather than a long one.

A register of tenure, not a noticeboard

Mining ground in Zimbabwe changes hands through WhatsApp groups and word of mouth, which is why so many sales collapse on a boundary dispute or a lapsed claim nobody checked. The register is built the other way round: paperwork first, then the listing.

Lots are accepted in four tenure classes, each carrying a different set of documents and a different transfer route.

  • Registered claimsPegged blocks of one hectare each, held on a certificate of registration and kept alive by inspection fees or production.
  • Mining leaseLarger consolidated ground, usually with workings and plant already on site.
  • Special grantGround granted outside the ordinary pegging route, common for coal and for tailings retreatment.
  • EPO / JVExclusive prospecting orders and joint-venture ground, offered for partnership rather than outright sale.

Use the unit the assay reports.

Your details go to the listings desk through our website host; if that is unavailable, they open in your own email program instead. See the privacy notice. A lot joins the register only once its certificate of registration, inspection standing and map reference have been checked. Do not enter identity-document, bank or payment details.

Before you pay for a claim

Document chain

Six documents decide whether ground is really yours. Most failed sales fail on one of them, and all six are checkable before money moves.

  • 01A prospecting licence that was live when the ground was pegged
  • 02A certificate of registration, read against the 1:25,000 map
  • 03Permanent beacons you have walked yourself
  • 04Inspection certificates proving the claim is still alive
  • 05A Certificate of Registration After Transfer, in your name
  • 06An EMA file of your own — the seller’s does not travel with the ground
